The reaction of -1-propargyl alcohol with HMPT(N-phenyl -1-methyl -1-1-imidazole-2-thiol and the photosensitizer methyl triphenyl boron) produces 2-methyl -2-propene -1-toluene sulfonate, which is reduced to give 2-Methyl-2-propen-1-ol.
2-Methyl-2-propen-1-ol is obtained by reacting 2-chloro-2-methyl-1-propene with aqueous ammonia.
